Vol. 4 [Texas News] Korea-Texas Economic Forum Launched
- The “Korea–Texas Economic Forum” officially began its activities following its inaugural general meeting held on the 19th.
- At the meeting, former Consul General of Houston, Young-ho Jung, was appointed as Chairman of the Board, with no opposition raised during the selection process.
- The forum is a private-sector cooperative body aimed at supporting Korean venture, small and medium-sized, and mid-sized companies—as well as firms in the bio and healthcare sectors—in entering the U.S. market, while expanding economic cooperation between Korea and the United States.
- Chairman Young-ho Jung noted that amid shifts in global supply chains and the resurgence of U.S. manufacturing, Texas is emerging as a global hub in key industries such as semiconductors, electric vehicles, AI, bio-medical, and energy. He added, in line with this trend, interest in and the need for Korean companies to expand into Texas are rapidly increasing.
- The organization plans to collaborate with Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups on a range of initiatives, including joint projects, the operation of global testbed programs, and cooperation in policy-related areas.
